It’s a generational thing.

It started with my grandad, an Argyll and Sutherland Highlander, handing down his regimental kilt to my mum,  then onto me. Mum wore hers and made ours, in the 60s and 70s and her timeless fashion has fostered my love for kilts ever since.

Angie is a textile artist and tutor, who lives and works in Ledbury, Herefordshire. She has been interested in textiles since she left school although only discovered creative embroidery in 1994 when she began studying City & Guilds at Malvern Hills College

Linda Miller

In stitches

For the past 30 years Linda has been making one-off, framed and unframed machine embroideries using an industrial Bernina 950 sewing machine and her work is exhibited throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. Linda has pieces held in the Southern Arts collection and within the permanent textile and dress collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Jane Robinson

A textile journey in stitch and mixed media.

Jane is a textile artist in Worthing, West Sussex. She prints and dyes her own fabrics, and then creates art with a combination of hand-stitch and sewing machine. Her inspiration comes from a variety of sources, including rocks and fossils, plants and leaves, and designs from other cultures. The colour and sparkle of India have a particular influence on her work.

Stitched on the Wild Side

Using the sewing machine as a tool for continuous line drawing, Julie’s work explores movement and texture with often unpredictable outcomes, which have been likened to ink illustration.
